Minimum 3 years' experience REQUIRED in Law Enforcement: Police, Military MP, Peace Officer, Probation/Corrections, Security or similar Ohio Guard Card/Security Licensure Required Must be at least 18 years of age. Very friendly, approachable, customer-centric personality Valid Driver's License Must have longevity on most recent jobs. Civicity is a part of the Block by Block family. JOB SUMMARY : The Safety Response Team (SRTs) will patrol and monitor an assigned area on bike and/or foot to report any suspicious activities to local authorities. SRTs will engage with area stakeholders, visitors, and residents to determine safety concerns and develop problem-solving strategies to effectively resolve these issues. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Patrols properties, verifies access, and monitors to maintain safety and security Provides a strong security presence to deter criminal activity, enforce client rules, and actively address any unwanted behaviors Firmly, calmly, and courteously requests compliance from persons violating client rules or committing crimes, such as aggressive panhandling, loitering, or any disruptive behavior or high-pressure situations Observes, monitors and patrols designated areas or zones while identifying and addressing any security concerns Responds to any incidents, investigates disturbances, and reports findings accurately and professionally Creates written, detailed, and accurate Incident reports and property condition reports Provides accurate descriptions of persons, vehicles, and other similar identifiers to law enforcement and others when needed Must have excellent communication skills in order to provide successful de-escalation strategies Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports. A high proficiency in the Spanish language is preferred but not required. Must maintain a positive, friendly, approachable, professional demeanor in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and Civicity/Block by Block standards of expected professionalism EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS : Valid/active Ohio Guard Card/Security Licensure required . High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Certifications in de-escalation techniques, defensive tactics, chemical irritant or pepper spray, crime prevention, knowledge of surveillance camera systems, and FAA Part 107 drone pilot certification are also beneficial PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Must have the ability to traverse continuously on bike or foot during an eight-hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen-minute breaks, and one thirty-minute meal break). Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with the provided free uniforms for all weather. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs., twist, bend, and stoop occasionally. Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Experience/Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required At least 3 years of experience working in a public-facing role requiring conflict resolution, such as security, law enforcement, or community engagement Training or certification in de-escalation, defensive tactics, or related areas Knowledge of surveillance systems or public safety practices preferred Valid State Guard Card (where applicable) Technological/Communication Requirements: Ability to utilize reporting systems (including SMART -- training provided) Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing Ability to operate radios and communication equipment Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical Requirements: Must have the physical capacity to stand and walk continuously during an eight-hour shift with normal breaks (ex: two fifteen-minute breaks and one thirty-minute meal break). Ability to talk and hear at normal levels Ability to work in moderate exposure to the elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather, when necessary, with provided uniform and weather-related gear such as: coat, jacket, raincoat, pants, gloves, hats.
