Security Guard

Our client, a retail centre in Knysna, Western Cape, is looking for a Security Guard to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred.ResponsibilitiesMonitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity.Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence.Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement.Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed.Assist with emergency procedures including fire evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations according to established protocols.RequirementsA clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements.The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations.Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability.A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions.For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely.A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for.QualificationsPSIRA Grade A or B Registration
