High School Teacher

We are looking for a qualified High School Teacher to teach at a well-resourced school in Bloemfontein, Free State. You will prepare lesson plans aligned with the curriculum, manage classroom discipline, mark and provide feedback on learner work, and communicate regularly with parents. This is a permanent position with competitive remuneration.

Responsibilities Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and sharing best practices. Communicate regularly with parents through written reports, parent-teacher meetings, and informal updates to build strong home-school partnerships. Assess learner progress through tests, assignments, projects, and oral presentations, maintaining accurate records of achievement. Provide regular and constructive feedback to learners on their performance, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that engage learners, promote critical thinking, and align with curriculum learning outcomes. Engage in ongoing professional development activities including workshops and self-study to stay current with teaching methodologies. Identify learners requiring additional academic or emotional support and refer them to appropriate internal or external support structures.

Requirements A minimum of two to three years of teaching experience in the relevant phase or subject area within a similar school environment. Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks applicable to the specific grade level or subject area. A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from an accredited institution. Excellent classroom management skills with ability to maintain discipline and create a respectful and productive learning environment. A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to the academic and personal development of every learner in your care. Registration with the South African Council for Educators and a valid SACE certificate in good standing. Proficiency in using educational technology including interactive whiteboards, learning management systems, and online teaching platforms.
