The Role: The Casual Security Guard position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises, including protecting property, personnel, and assets from potential threats. This role involves monitoring surveillance systems, conducting regular patrols, controlling access points, and responding promptly to security incidents. The Security Guard will enforce facility policies, maintain a visible presence to deter criminal activity and assist visitors or employees as needed. Additionally, they will write detailed shift, incident reports and collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary. Please note that regular working hours are 8 hour shifts and on occasion, it can lead to more hours depending upon the needs of the business. Responsibilities: Patrolling: Ensures that all required areas are locked and re-opened at the appropriate set times Patrol all public areas of the facility and periodic mechanical systems checks Responds to individuals found loitering in buildings Assist resident manager / caretaker to noise and nuisance complaints as required Write shift reports, work orders etc. Maintain up to date knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and Fire Plans Oversees work of the outsourced security services team, ensuring duties are completed as required Monitors cameras and follows protocol as disturbances and discrepancies are noted. Emergency Response: Respond to fire alarms and onsite contact with fire department Respond to emergencies as they arise (break-ins, parking machine break down, water tank burst, etc.) Customer Focus: Assists with Parkade issues (i.e. lost ticket, direct to pay station) Assists tenants who have lost their keys or access card Qualifications and Experience: Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent; successful completion of a certified Manitoba Security Guard Basic Training course Valid Manitoba Security Guard License Minimum 2-3 years of experience Clear Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Check required and to be maintained Computer Word/Excel and CCTV experience an asset Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends, working 8 hour shifts and on occasion more hours depending upon the needs of the business. Candidates with day availability will be preferred.
