Security Guard

An armed response company in Midrand, Gauteng requires a Security Guard to respond to alarm activations and emergency calls. You will conduct rapid response patrols, investigate suspicious activity, and liaise with law enforcement when necessary. A valid firearm competency certificate and advanced driving skills are essential.

Responsibilities Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement. Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity. Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence. Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review. Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register. Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity.

Requirements Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public. Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions. A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for. The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations. For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents.
