An armed response company in Stellenbosch, Western Cape requires a Retail Security Guard to respond to alarm activations and emergency calls. You will conduct rapid response patrols, investigate suspicious activity, and liaise with law enforcement when necessary. A valid firearm competency certificate and advanced driving skills are essential. Responsibilities Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement. Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity. Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed. Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence. Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review. Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and bags entering or leaving the premises to prevent unauthorised removal of property. Assist with emergency procedures including fire evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations according to established protocols. Requirements The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations. A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents. Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions. A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability. Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public. A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions.
