We have an opening for a Warehouse Assistant at a retail distribution centre in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role involves picking stock according to pick lists, packing items securely for dispatch, operating basic warehouse equipment, and helping to keep the facility clean and orderly. A positive attitude and willingness to work hard are what count most. Responsibilities Operate basic machinery and equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and strapping machines after receiving appropriate training. Report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or product defects to the supervisor or team leader immediately. Label products and packages correctly with batch numbers, dates, and other required information as per standard operating procedures. Assist skilled workers such as mechanics, electricians, or builders by fetching tools, holding materials, and providing general support. Sort and stack inventory, pallets, and containers neatly and safely to maximise storage space and prevent accidents. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including sweeping floors, removing waste, and storing tools and equipment properly. Follow all health and safety rules including wearing the required personal protective equipment at all times. Requirements Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual work including lifting, standing, bending, and walking for extended periods. Previous general labour or warehouse experience is advantageous but not always required for entry-level positions. A strong work ethic and willingness to work hard, with a positive attitude even when tasks are repetitive or physically demanding. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as operational demands require. The ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English accurately. A clear criminal record may be required depending on the nature of the workplace and client requirements. Reliability and punctuality are essential as team operations depend on every member being present and on time. Qualifications Certificate in General Education and Training
