Security Officer Job Summary The PSO is responsible for guarding and monitoring company grounds to prevent theft, violence, or other loss of company property. Essential Functions Monitors and operates complex Closed Circuit Television equipment. Tours facility and grounds, inside and outside. Responds to security breaches and prepares and files reports describing accidents, or intruders. Maintains security logs. Other Duties Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Valid security guard license or certificate, dependent on state requirements. Valid NYS driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read, write and speak the English Language. Prepare complex written reports and documents. Comprehend and interpret complex verbal and written documents. Prepare legible and clear reports suitable for court purposes. Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Regularly required to sit, stand; walk; bend, climb, push, pull; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and balance. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities include hearing and understanding (aided or unaided), dialogue in conversational tones and levels, transmitted either in person or via radio or telephone, recognizing low, middle, and high range sounds such as whistles, bells, buzzers, gongs, and sirens such as those commonly used in alarm systems. The work environment is indoors and outdoors, frequently exposed to all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The salary range listed for this position represents the anticipated compensation based on experience and qualifications and may vary depending on internal factors and applicable laws. All three shifts are available.
